Apoquel helps relieve itching and reduce skin inflammation in dogs. The difference between the 16 mg and 5.4 mg strengths is designed to accommodate dogs of different body weights and sizes.

• Apoquel 5.4 mg: Suitable for medium-sized dogs with moderate body weight, such as Beagles, Corgis, and French Bulldogs.
  
• Apoquel 16 mg: Suitable for large dogs with higher body weight, such as Golden Retrievers, Siberian Huskies, and Labradors.

Benefits and Mechanism of Action

The active ingredient is Oclacitinib, which is not a steroid. It works by selectively blocking itch signals from being transmitted to the brain.

• Fast-acting: Begins to relieve itching within 4 hours and provides good control of symptoms within 24 hours.
  
• Conditions treated: Used to treat allergic dermatitis and chronic atopic dermatitis caused by environmental or food allergies. It helps stop the itch-scratch cycle, which can lead to skin wounds and secondary infections.

Precautions:

For use in dogs aged 1 year and older and weighing more than 3 kg. Do not use in pregnant or lactating dogs, or dogs with serious infections. Use only as directed by a veterinarian.
